Dry skin is the number one unmet skincare need around the world.
Until now. Pentavitin provides instant, deep hydration by generating a moisture reservoir that lasts up to 72 hours.
Using a new 3D moisture mapping method, Pentavitin was put to the test.
The 3D mapping device by DSM can track moisture levels at 30 different points of the face – compared to conventional tools that take data from just one point.
When testing four ethnic groups, this new mapping technology found big differences in levels of moisturisation of the same face, often in close proximity.
Pentavitin was tested for efficacy using the new technology. And according to Parand Salmassina, vice president of DSM, the results were astounding. Pentavitin is “absolutely superior to competitive products and sustains a healthy natural moisture factor … up to 72 hours”.
The natural moisturising factor (NMF) is a complex mixture of water soluble compounds. It is an efficient humectant and plays a significant role in absorbing and retaining water, providing hydration of the stratum corneum (a thin membrane built on top of the epidermis).
Without sufficient NMF, the delicate structure of the stratum corneum is compromised.
Daily showering and environmental conditions, such as air conditioning, air travel, climate and UV radiation, all reduce the levels of NMF of our skin.
Pentavitin, by DSM, is derived through an isomerisation of carbohydrates similar to our own body’s carbohydrate complex of NMF. It significantly contributes to skin and scalp moisturisation by reproducing the effects of NMF in the stratum corneum.
